What happens during the SkinPen Micro Therapy procedure?A sterile and disposable cartridge containing 9 to 11 microneedles is attached to the tip of the SkinPen. A thin layer of topical serum is applied to the skin and the appropriate micro-channeling depth is selected for your skin, anywhere from .5mm for a light treatment up to 2.5mm for a more agressive treatment. In a gentle motion, the pen is glided across the target repair areas. At shorter needle depths, you will feel a tickling sensation. More aggressive treatments may require topical numbing cream. How does SkinPen Micro Therapy work?As the SkinPen is moved over the skin, it vertically penetrates the surface layers of your skin. Your skin reacts by initiating the healing process, which stimulates the release of growth factors that trigger the production of collagen and elastin. What can I expect after the treatment?Most patients begin to see results in one day to a week after treatment, though each patient's healing time differs. Immediately after treatment, you may notice a pink appearance in the treatment area. In some cases minor pin-point bleeding depending on the depth of the needle penetration. |
